Silver Eagle Stable has devised a plan that allows your Boy or Girl scout to complete the Scouts’ Horsemanship Merit Badge in only 1 day. Chris Noakes (Member #13261243) is a certified Counselor with the Boy Scouts of America and can sign off on the Horsemanship Badge requirements. (Other scouting organizations are welcome, too! We can tailor an event to suit your wants/needs. SES is an approved vendor on the Girl Scout vendor list.)
Scouts Horsemanship Merit Badge
The Scouts Horsemanship Merit Badge event is based on the Boy Scout’s criteria and includes classroom time learning all about horses. This includes barn safety, horse health issues, feeding and care, and learning about tack. Participants will then go on to stations to learn how to groom, mount/dismount, and how to tack up a horse. The next stage is actually getting on the horse and learning how to ride. The participant’s final task is showing the instructor that they have learned the required skills and are able to apply them by riding the horse under the instructor’s supervision.
All participants must wear long pants and a distinct heeled boot or shoe as well as a helmet for safety reasons. Riders may bring their own helmet or use one of ours. (Anyone with hair in any type of up-do needs to be able to put a helmet on which may entail taking their hair down.)
Want to throw in some camping for the badge or just some fun? We can accommodate your troop at the same time!
